Change Observer is a channel of Design Observer devoted to the many dimensions of design for social innovation, developed by Winterhouse Institute with support from Rockefeller Foundation. It provides timely information about design strategies aimed globally at improving health, education, housing, and the environment, and features reportage, interviews, opinion pieces, book and exhibition reviews, a photo gallery, and a resource center compiling information about key organizations and events. Change Observer not only identifies important people and projects related to design for social change; it also assesses their effectiveness through investigative reports by renowned journalists.

William Drenttel is a designer and publisher, and editorial director of Design Observer. He is a partner at Winterhouse, a design consultancy focused on social change, online media and educational institutions, and a senior faculty fellow at the Yale School of Management.
Kaomi Goetz is a multimedia journalist based in New York City. Her radio work is often heard on NPR and Marketplace and she's written for Fast Company and AOL.
Meena Kadri explores the intersection of communication, culture and creativity from her New Zealand–based consultancy Random Specific.

Karrie Jacobs is New York–based critic and journalist.
Julie Lasky was editor-in-chief of I.D. until 2009. Prior to that, she was editor-in-chief of Interiors magazine, which she led to several national honors, and managing editor of Print magazine. A widely published writer and critic, Lasky has contributed to The New York Times, Metropolis, Dwell, Eye, Slate, the National Scholar and NPR, as well as Design Observer.
Jane Margolies, a writer and editor based in New York, reports on design, travel, books and trends for magazines and The New York Times.
Bradford McKee is a writer based in Washington, D.C., specializing in design, architecture and art.
Phil Patton is a contributing editor at Departures and Esquire, a contributing writer at Wired, and an automotive design writer for The New York Times.
Fred Ritchin is professor of Photography & Imaging at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
Jonathan Schultz is a Brooklyn-based writer and editor who covers automotive and consumer-product design, electronics, and pop culture.
